AAT SRI LANKA CONDUCTS ANOTHER WORKSHOP FOR AAT MEMBERS IN PRACTICE (MIPS)

Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) successfully hosted a workshop for its Members in Practice (MIP) on 22nd June 2019 at the Auditorium of AAT. MIPs who are in the practice of accounting, tax and other business consultancy participated for this workshop. The main objective of this workshop was to interact with MIPs on technical aspects, industry requirements and exploring opportunities in emerging business environment while expanding their awareness on the scope of practice, the challenges and opportunities available for practitioners.

 

The first panel discussion was on the technical aspects relating to MIPs where Mr Ranjith Hapuarachchi, Deputy Commissioner General, Information Communication Technology Administration & Tax Operation Support deliberated on opportunities for approved accountants & authorized representatives with regards to Inland Revenue while Mr Sunil Wanigabadu, Secretary & Member of AAT Governing Council of AAT discussed on the scope of MIPs, challenges & requirements. Mr Jagath Perera, Member of AAT Governing Council contributed as resource personnel on discussing on quality assurance, compliance, code of ethics and development.

 

Second panel discussion was held on exposing the practitioners to industry and exploring opportunities and it was moderated by Mr Lakshaman Abeysekara, Member of AAT Governing Council and the Chairman of Membership Committee. Panelists were Mr. S  R P Indrakeerthi, Director Trade Facilitation & Trade Information of Export Development Board, Mr. Hemal C. Lokugeegana - Deputy General Manager / Chief Risk Officer of Sanasa Development Bank, Mr. Suranga Karunarathna, Relationship Manager- SME of Hatton National Bank and Mr. Tissa Ruberu, Assistant Secretary General of National Chamber of Commerce.

 

The workshop has been very fruitful and interactive and been received by all the MIPs present. Participants were given ample opportunity to interact with the resource panel. Mr Tishanga Kumarasinghe, Chief Executive Officer of AAT Sri Lanka also took part in the event and the event was jointly organized by the Membership Committee & Business School of AAT Sri Lanka.
