The first Orientation Seminar of 2026 for New Members of AAT was successfully held on 15th August 2026 at the Nawaloka Banquet Hall, Nawaloka Hospitals, Colombo 02, with the enthusiastic participation of members from across the island.
The programme commenced with a welcome by Mr. Theja De Silva, Chairman – Membership Engagement & Professional Development Committee, followed by an introduction to AAT Sri Lanka and AAT Business School by Mr. Tishanga Kumarasinghe, Chief Executive Officer, AAT Sri Lanka. Dr. Chamara Bandara, President of AAT Sri Lanka, addressed the gathering on the Responsibility and Pride of Being an AAT Member, inspiring members to embrace their professional journey with commitment and pride.
Mr. Jagath Perera, Chairman – Governance and Assurance Committee, delivered a session on the AAT Code of Ethics, while Ms. Iresha Senaratne, Chairperson – CPD Sub Committee, introduced members to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme. Mr. Dayal Abhayasinghe, Vice President, AAT Sri Lanka, also provided an introduction to the upcoming AAT Conference 2026.
Adding practical and inspirational perspectives, Chef Alan of Nawaloka Hospitals conducted an engaging session on “Dining with Confidence: A Practical Etiquette”, while Mr. Deshapriya Senanayake, Fellow Member, CA Sri Lanka, delivered an inspiring address on “Inspiring the Next Generation of Accounting Professionals.” Ms. Habiba Hameed and Mr. Mikal Hameed, Corporate Trainers from Hameedia, shared valuable insights on Professional Image, Business Etiquette & Workplace Excellence.
Members were also introduced to the AAT Toastmasters’ Club by DTM R. A. K. Jeewantha, DTM (Toastmasters International) and Council Member, AAT Sri Lanka, highlighting its role in developing communication and leadership skills. Ms. Ruwanthika Perera, Relationship Manager – Employee Banking, HNB, concluded the member-benefit sessions with an introduction to the AAT HNB Affinity Credit Card and its exclusive benefits.
The seminar served as a valuable platform to welcome the newest members to the AAT family, equipping them with knowledge, inspiration and professional guidance to confidently begin their journey as proud members of AAT Sri Lanka.
